A top UNC Basketball target in the 2020 recruiting class has trimmed his list down to seven teams on Saturday night. But where do the Tar Heels stand?

Donovan “Puff” Johnson doesn’t know where he will play basketball in his senior year of high school or if will even play after being ruled ineligible in the state of Pennsylvania.

But despite that, the younger brother of former North Carolina standout and NBA Lottery Pick Cameron Johnson is starting to make some decisions on where he wants to play his college basketball. On Saturday night, Johnson made a key update to his recruitment by releasing his Top 7 finalists.

StockRisers released Johnson’s seven finalists with a story on Saturday afternoon as he named North Carolina, Arizona, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Pittsburgh to his list.

The 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward has also decided to stay in the 2020 recruiting class despite considering reclassifying to 2019 per StockRisers. In addition to that, he also broke down each school on his list of seven including the Tar Heels.

Johnson acknowledged that his brother Cam played at UNC and that the program has a legacy:

"My brother played there and a great legacy and an amazing coach who has been great for a while."

Johnson is ranked as the No. 49 overall recruit in the 247 Sports Composite rankings and is the No. 13 small forward. As it stands now, Arizona leads the way with 80% of the Crystal Ball Predictions for Johnson, with UNC trailing them at 20%.

Now with his seven finalists listed, Johnson can get to work on scheduling and then taking those official visits as the next step in his recruitment. The forward has been on UNC’s campus plenty of times for unofficial visits as he had the chance to watch Cam play and even workout with him in the predraft process.
