One of the top targets for the UNC Basketball program in the 2020 recruiting class is set to cut his list this week and he also dished on the Tar Heels involvement

Class of 2020 five-star combo guard Caleb Love is one of the top targets on North Carolina’s recruiting board as he would help fill a big need on the perimeter.

With transfers Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce only having one year of eligibility left and five-star guard Cole Anthony likely being a one-and-done, head coach Roy Williams will need to find some help on the perimeter for upcoming classes. Williams and his staff do have offers out to a few different wings including Love.

But will the Tar Heels be able to pull the Missouri native out of the Midwest?

Love has 26 offers so far in his recruitment including from Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisville, Missouri, Arizona and Texas among others. As it stands now, Love is set to cut his list down to six teams this week, providing a big update for his recruitment.

With UNC expected to make the cut, Love talked about the Tar Heels’ involvement in his recruitment and how Williams wants to bring the recruit in. Here is what he told Rivals’ recruiting analyst Corey Evans:

"“Roy Williams and his assistant coaches have just told me that they want for me to come in for Cole (Anthony) since he will be a one-and-done and they want for me to come in and be that lead point guard for them and someone that can make plays for others and also myself. They said that it is also a place that can help me get to the league.”"

Replacing Anthony with a player like Love would be ideal for Williams and his staff, especially when they are the favorites to land forward Ziaire Williams and already have five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe signed.

Having three five-star recruits would make for a hell of a class for the Tar Heels and they would still have the chance to add to it. Plus, they would also return Rechon “Leaky” Black for his junior year and four-star guard Anthony Harris for his sophomore season.

The Tar Heels still have the tough task of pulling Love out of the Midwest, likely battling Kansas, Indiana and Louisville.
