The UNC Football program has an official report date for training camp in early August as they prepare for the upcoming season

After another disappointing year for the North Carolina Tar Heels football team, the program made the decision to fire Larry Fedora and bring back former coach Mack Brown. The second era for Brown is officially here as the head coach accepted the position last November.

Since then, Brown has put together a respectable 2019 recruiting class and hosted Spring Practice back in April.

This week Brown and two Tar Heels will report to Charlotte for the annual Atlantic Coast Conference Kickoff event, a appetizer for the upcoming season. With the around finally here it means we are that much closer to the start of the season.

UNC will kickoff their season on August 31 as part of the Belk Kickoff in Charlotte but they will report to the practice field very soon.

Per Inside Carolina’s Ross Martin, the Tar Heels will report for training camp on August 1 and hold their first official practice on August 2.

This will be the first time the team has hit the practice field together since April as they prepare for what should be an exciting yet challenging upcoming season. For a program that hasn’t had a winning record since 2016, the anticipation is high in this second stint under Brown.

One of the biggest questions around this team will be who starts the Week 1 game vs. South Carolina at quarterback. True freshman Sam Howell as well as redshirt sophomore’s Jace Ruder and Cade Fortin will battle it out for the starting job. It’s something to monitor throughout camp.

Other big question marks will be regarding the depth of this team, the offensive line and who will emerge at linebacker.

Martin also revealed that Brown will be available seven times during training camp and that select players will be available after every practice.
