UNC Basketball: 5-star power forward updates his recruitment
By Zack Pearson
A big five-star UNC Basketball recruiting target in the 2020 class dished on his recruitment and where he currently stands after the Peach Jam
The recruitment of class of 2020 five-star power forward Isaiah Todd has remained relatively quiet over the past few weeks. There really hasn’t been much released about Todd’s top teams, visits or even a lean which could be both a good and a bad thing for the North Carolina Tar Heels, one of the teams pursuing the talented recruit.
But that changed this past weekend at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam where Todd is competing along with some of the top recruits in the country.
The 6-foot-10, 195-pound recruit who plays at Trinity Academy Of Raleigh talked to Rivals’ reporter Eric Bossi on Saturday to break down where his recruitment stands.
Todd dished on the teams that are showing the most interest as coaches from all 10 of his Top 10 list watched him at some point during the high-profile recruiting event, including North Carolina.
Here is what Todd had to say about the Tar Heels in his recruitment via Bossi:
"“The atmosphere there was crazy. Especially to be there with some of the recruits they have coming i like Armando Bacot was really good. It was interesting to hear what they had to say.”"
It’s no secret that Bacot and Todd are close friends, either. Both grew up in the Richmond, Virginia area before transferring to different schools. Bacot went to Florida to play at IMG Academy but stayed in touch with Todd who transferred to Trinity in Raleigh.
With Bacot having a history of helping recruiting players to UNC since he joined the 2019 class last August, you better believe he’s been in Todd’s ear about joining the Tar Heels. If Bacot decides to stay another year, the two could even play college ball together for at least one season.
As for where Todd is currently in his recruitment, Bossi notes that the prospect hinted at possibly cutting his list sometime soon. He also mentioned that coaches keeping an eye on him and watching him play is a big part of his recruitment.
The No. 13 overall player in the 2020 class per the Rivals rankings has taken official visits to Maryland and Ohio State while taking an unofficial to UNC so far in his recruitment.
