Duke Blue Devils

This one is, without question, the biggest and most hated rival for Tar Heel fans — and it’s also the school just eight miles down the road from Chapel Hill. Duke has and will always be that program for anyone associated with North Carolina.

Not only is it because of the tight proximity that separates the two schools, but because of the success that both programs have had throughout their histories.

Combining for 11 national championships, these two programs have played 182 games, most of any UNC opponent. In those 182 games, the record is 98-84 in favor of North Carolina.

Despite the closeness of almost every game played, the rivalry goes even deeper on the floor.

Whether it be Matt Doherty getting heated with the Duke bench or the Gerald Henderson elbow on Tyler Hansbrough, there are multiple memories that make this hatred run deep.
