A top UNC Basketball target in the 2020 recruiting class has cut his list down to just five teams, including the Tar Heels

Roy Williams and his staff at North Carolina will continue to watch recruiting targets in both the 2020 and 2021 classes during the Summer months as the Tar Heels look to strike with some commitments.

One of the top targets for the Tar Heels in the 2020 class is five-star shooting guard Jaden Springer out of IMG Academy in Florida. Springer is ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit in the 2020 class and the No 3. shooting guard per 247 Sports. He’s one of the best all-around scorers in this class and would be a prized recruit for the Tar Heels.

On Monday night, the Tar Heels took one more step forward in his recruitment.

Springer cut his list down to five teams in his recruitment naming the Tar Heels, Tennessee, Memphis, Florida and Michigan on his final list:

Spring has a total of 18 offers in his recruitment but will now focus on these five schools as he begins the next steps in his recruitment. He’s taken just one official visit which was to Tennessee back on March 1st.

But we will likely see Springer take more visits before his recruitment is totally over.

For months now things have sounded good for the Tar Heels in this recruitment. They currently hold all three Crystal Ball predictions on 247 Sports and many insiders have talked about Springer and UNC. He was born on Charlotte, so UNC does have a connection there. But as of late, the Volunteers may have picked up some ground and do hold the only official visit so far.

Another team to keep an eye on is Memphis. With the big recruiting class Penny Hardaway landed in 2019, he’s looking to build another big one in 2020 and landing Springer would go a long way for that.

The Tar Heels do have five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe verbally committed but do want to add some help on the wing. Springer and a recruit like Ziaire Williams would be ideal fits for UNC.

Next. 2020 PF to talk to Tar Heels this week. dark
