The UNC Basketball program is showing interest in a power forward for the 2020 class and now Roy Williams is expected to talk with him this week

The North Carolina Tar Heels have a new target in sight for their 2020 recruiting class, showing interest in four-star recruit Lance Ware.

The New Jersey native’s recruitment is starting to pickup and teams are starting to notice. UNC was in last week to watch Ware participate the Philly 2 Live event in Philadelphia, the first time Roy Williams has traveled to watch him.

Now a week later, Ware says that he is expected to talk with Williams this week. Ware updated his recruitment with Stock Risers and was asked about the schools that are showing interest, including UNC:

"North Carolina: I’m talking to Coach Williams sometime this week, not sure when."

Ware also dished on Clemson, Ohio State and Providence, three of the 10 schools that have officially offered the recruit. The Tar Heels are not among those 10 schools to offer but with them showing interest, that could change.

The 6-foot-9 power forward will participate in the Peach Jam later this month, an elite Nike EYBL event that will feature some of the top prospects in the country. Ware will focus on that rather than his recruitment, putting it on hold for the time being per his interview with Stock Risers.

From there he will hope to plan more visits to schools which could include one to UNC. As for a commitment date, Ware told the recruiting site that a decision could come on his birthday in February.

With five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe already verbally committed, UNC is hoping to add to their wing in the recruiting class. They have several offers out with their top target being five-star Ziaire Williams.

Ware is currently the 47 overall recruit in the 2020 class per 247 Sports and is the No. 8 player at his position.
