A 2020 UNC Basketball recruiting target updates his timeline on when he will announce his decision plus plans to schedule visits

There have only been two top 20 players to commit in the 2020 recruiting class so far with both Jalen Johnson and Jeremy Roach committing to Duke. With both five-stars ending their recruitment, it could set off a chain reaction for prospects this Summer.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have one verbal commitment in 2020, landing that in June of 2018 when Day’Ron Sharpe announced following an unofficial visit that he was committing. Roy Williams and his staff are hoping to put together a big class and already have a good start with the one commitment. But now they want to add more and have several offers out for some of the top players in the class.

One of those players is four-star small forward Cam’Ron Fletcher who is ranked No. 36 overall by 247 Sports in the player rankings. Fletcher earned an offer from UNC in early June and now has a total of 28 including some from Midwest schools.

The Missouri native may end up in the Midwest, holding offers from in-state Mizzou as well as Michigan State, Illinois, Kentucky, Kansas State and Kansas. But don’t count the Tar Heels out just yet as they are a legit contender to try and pull him out of the Midwest.

On July 4th, Fletcher provided an update on his recruitment as he talked with Tipton Edits about when to expect a decision. He told the Twitter account that a decision will likely come in late-August or early-September:

Also, in that tweet it’s revealed that Fletcher will start scheduling visits soon which means he could take one to Chapel Hill. If he does indeed visit UNC, it gives the Tar Heels a better chance than many think.

With a center already committed, the Tar Heels would love to add on the wing. Guard Cole Anthony is likely to be a one-and-done while Brandon Robinson will graduate after this upcoming season.

Both graduate transfers, Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce, will also be gone leaving just Anthony Harris and Rechon “Leaky” Black as players with experience on the wing for UNC in the 2020-21 season as it stands.

Next. Here is what UNC's 2020 recruiting class could look like. dark
