One of the top UNC Basketball recruiting targets in the 2020 class could earn a five-star rating this Summer according to one analyst.

With the Summer officially here, the recruiting will start to heat up again with the AAU circuit as some of the top events will take place in July and August.

There is still a long way to go in the 2020 recruiting cycle for prospects and the teams hoping to land them before the period is over. We should start hearing more about who coaches are watching, recruits taking official and unofficial visits as well as updated rankings.

With the next rankings updates likely happening in July, one North Carolina target could make a jump in the rankings.

Four-star small forward Cam’Ron Fletcher’s recruitment is starting to heat up as he earned offers from North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas in the month of June, bring his total up to 28 offers so far. The 6-foot-6, 180-pound recruit out of Missouri is starting to gain some national recognition as well and now one recruiting analyst believes he’s a legit candidate to reach five-star status.

Rivals’ reporters Eric Bossi, Corey Evans and Dan McDonald put out their weekly roundtable discussing recruits and which ones could up their stock this Summer. Bossi pointed out that Fletcher may have the best chance to do so:

"Give me Cam’Ron Fletcher here. A couple of times the athletic 6-foot-6 wing from St. Louis (Mo.) Vashon has been knocking on the door of five-star status and each time he’s stumbled a bit. But, I feel like he’s the most focused we’ve ever seen him headed into July. He’s better with his ball-handling and playmaking, is taking better shots and seems to have bought into using his physical tools to be a difference-maker on defense."

While UNC has put out an offer to Fletcher and he appears interested, it might be tough pulling him out of the Midwest.

Among Fletcher’s offers are in-state Missouri as well as Michigan State and Illinois, two Big Ten teams that have shown significant interest in him from the Midwest. As it stands now, the Tigers have three of the four Crystal Ball Predictions on 247 Sports, edging out the Spartans who have one prediction.

Next. Tar Heels' 2020 class could look a lot like this.... dark
