The UNC Basketball program has their eyes on a 2020 four-star point guard as assistant Hubert Davis is expected to watch him this weekend

The past week has been dominated with news of Roy Williams watching and then offering two post players and a wing. The head coach spent last weekend on the recruiting trail watching Dawson Garcia in Minnesota and then teammates Hunter Dickinson and Earl Timberlake in Maryland.

The head coach extended offers to all three players following the weekend.

But this weekend, the Tar Heels appear to have their eyes on a four-star point guard in the 2020 recruiting class.

Archbishop Stepinac’s R.J. Davis is participating in the New York City Catholic League Team Camp this weekend and he’s already drawing a crowd. Two coaches were in Friday night to watch the New York native play in the event and more are expected to attend this weekend.

Among them is North Carolina assistant Hubert Davis as Adam Zagoria is reporting on Zag’s Blog:

"North Carolina’s Hubert Davis (Saturday) and Kansas’ Norm Roberts (Sunday) are both due this weekend, although neither school has offered."

Davis is a four-star recruit that is ranked No. 87 overall, No. 10 among combo guards and No. 4 in the state of New York per 247 Sports. He has a total of 13 offers and just took his first official visit to Georgetown a few days ago.

The Tar Heels have yet to offer Davis but have shown some interest so far. A visit from Davis on Saturday shows that UNC has remained interested.

With Cole Anthony likely heading to the NBA Draft after one year the Tar Heels have a need at the point guard position. They still have combo guard Anthony Harris and Jeremiah Francis in the 2019 recruiting class and Rechon “Leaky” Black can play the two if needed but Williams would still like to add to the position if possible.

The Tar Heels have offers out for point guards Cade Cunningham and Caleb Love in the 2020 class so far. Cunningham appears to be trending to Oklahoma State and Love’s recruitment is still wide open. It does make sense for UNC to get in on the recruitment of Davis and hopefully his play earns him an offer soon.

Could UNC land package deal with teammates?. dark. Next
