A top target for the UNC Basketball program was named a standout at a recent camp in Georgia over the past weekend

It’s no secret that Roy Williams wants to add another post player to his 2020 basketball recruiting class, even with five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe signed.

Williams is off to a great start with Sharpe as the lone verbal commit but a few more players are expected to commit by the time the class wraps up in May of 2020. The Tar Heels have offers out to several recruits in the country and that includes a few post players.

One of those post players that Williams is heavily pursuing is five-star center Walker Kessler out of Georgia. The Tar Heels have kept tabs on Kessler for months now and as we go into the Summer months, that continues.

The No. 15 overall player in the 2020 class per 247 Sports put on an impressive display of his skill-set while participating in the GHSA Team Camp. In doing so, he caught the eye of 247 Sports recruiting analyst Evan Daniels who called him a standout at the camp:

"In my one viewing of Kessler during the GHSA Team Camp, the 7-footer put together an efficient, and dominant showing. Kessler hit all four of his three-point attempts, plus buried a 15-foot jump shot. Kessler is quite confident in his jump shot, and it appears to be getting better and better. Kessler also impacted the game with his rim protection, rebounding and rim running. Despite his size, Kessler gets up and down the floor well and is relatively light on his feet. Kessler is one of the top center prospects in the 2020 class."

Kessler currently has a total of 23 offers including from programs like UNC, Duke, Virginia, Michigan, Vanderbilt and Auburn among others. The center does plan to make some more visits before his decision and that includes one to UNC.

While he hasn’t released an official list of his top five teams, Kessler did say the teams recruiting him the hardest are essentially his top teams: UNC, Gonzaga, Duke, Auburn and Michigan.

With no end in sight for his recruitment, this one could last a little longer than many expected.
