The UNC Basketball program is one of the schools that made the list of five for a five-star recruit in the 2020 recruiting class

The North Carolina Tar Heels are definitely doing their homework on post players in the 2020 recruiting class. With five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe already verbally committed, UNC is off to a great start with a dominant post player.

But head coach Roy Williams and his staff aren’t satisfied with just Sharpe in their class.

The weekend was spent on the recruiting trail for Williams as he went to a few different stops along the way. Williams spent Friday watching a four-star center in Minnesota and then two days later on Sunday, he was in Maryland to watch a four-star center.

One recruit Williams and his staff have made a priority in the post is Georgia native and five-star center Walker Kessler.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pound Kessler currently holds 23 offers and is one of the best players at his position according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He’s taken a few visits and has drawn significant interest from several top programs. While his recruitment has been a little quiet of late, Kessler provided an update over the weekend.

247 Sports lead recruiting analyst Evan Daniels caught up with Kessler at an NCAA Georgia high school live event to get the latest on his recruitment. Daniels asked Kessler about the teams that are standing out to him and he replied by giving the schools that have recruited him the hardest so far:

"“Right now, I think I got a top five or top six,” Kessler said. “It’s more of schools that I feel like are heavily recruiting me: Michigan, Gonzaga, Auburn, Duke, UNC, I think that’s it.”"

That quote should be good news for UNC fans as he pretty much provided a list of his top schools without officially doing it. Kessler has taken three official visits in his recruitment, taking trips to Duke, Michigan and Auburn.

But before the center makes his decision, he plans on taking more visits in the Fall. He told Daniels that he plans on visiting every school on his list, so that means we should expect to see him in Chapel Hill before he makes a decision.
