Roy Williams took a trip to Maryland to watch a four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class for the UNC Basketball program

University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams was back on the recruiting trail Sunday afternoon as the long off-season continues.

After Williams watched four-star center Dawson Garcia participate in the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Showcase on Friday, the head coach was in Maryland on Sunday afternoon to watch another center in the 2020 class. Williams was one of the coaches in Hyattsville, Maryland to watch four-star center Hunter Dickinson in the DMV Live Event:

The 7-foot-2, 255-pound Dickinson was participating in the event for his high school, DeMatha Catholic, located in Hyattsville and drew a crowd of coaches for the event. In addition to Williams watching, West Virginia’s Bob Huggins and Vanderbilt’s Jerry Stackhouse were also watching DeMatha take on Mt. St. Joe’s.

Dickinson has a total of 19 offers at this stage in his recruitment including from programs such as Louisville, Notre Dame, Purdue, Alabama, Florida State and Maryland among others. He’s taken three visits so far, going to Louisville, Notre Dame and Purdue but is expected to take more before his recruitment is over. The Tar Heels have yet to offer Dickinson in his recruitment thus far.

The center is ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit in the 2020 class and is the No. 6 player at his position per 247 Sports. As it stands now, Notre Dame leads the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor with two of the three predictions.

UNC currently has five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe signed in 2020 but Williams and his staff would love to add another post player to the mix. Finding two post players for the 2020 class could be huge for the future of the program.
