UNC Basketball: Why Cole Anthony will be the best PG under Roy Williams
By Alec Lasley
Athleticism
One part of the game that has changed drastically over the last 10 years is the athleticism at the point guard position.
Not only have point guards become taller and longer, but they have also become much more athletic.
For the most part, Carolina hasn’t necessarily had the most truly athletic point guards in the country, but with Anthony, they will.
Yes, he has the highlight plays, but what he will bring to the team that most of the past Carolina point guards haven’t, is his rebounding ability.
This past season, Anthony had 15 double-digit rebound games, including four of 13+ rebounds. Having a point guard who can grab the rebound and start the break without looking for an outlet pass will make the transition game that much better, and faster.
Despite being 6-foot-3, Anthony dunks with the best of them. His jumping ability is absolutely off the charts and he recently showed this with some of his workout videos.

No Carolina point guard has been able to do this. Not one. The closest Tar Heel fans got was Seventh Woods, but injuries kept Woods from being able to showcase this on a regular basis.
The closest comparison with Roy Williams’ point guards is Coby White.
Though White was not a big dunker in college, his bounce and agility were the best in recent memory from Carolina point guards.
I’m sure Carolina fans can’t wait to see the first windmill dunk in the Dean Dome this season, and maybe a couple of poster dunks against Duke.
