Passing Ability

Someone with such a great scoring ability usually isn’t as good of a playmaker for others, but this isn’t the case for Cole Anthony.

Averaging 9.5 assists per game, Anthony uses his scoring ability to set up his passing.

Lethal in the pick-and-roll, he already has good vision, although sometimes he does force in a pass that he probably shouldn’t. Anthony is always a willing passer and sometimes that comes back to bite him with others not fully expecting the pass.

Obviously, there is not going to be a better passer and distributor than Kendall Marshall under Roy Williams, but Anthony is going to be up in the air when it comes down to his ability to create for others too.

Two players he will be very comparable to in this category is Felton and Lawson.

Both Felton and Lawson were on a roster that had multiple options on the wing and in the frontcourt, so their scoring was sometimes secondary to their playmaking. For their careers. they had an average of 6.3 assists per game while scoring in double digits every single season.

Though not always flashy with their passing, they always set up their teammates in great spots and were able to make it easy on the rest of the team.

Having 11 games of 10+ assists a season ago, eight games were above 13.

With Anthony, I fully expect him to be around six assists per game and while he will need to lower his turnovers a bit, he will make winning plays for him and his teammates on a regular basis.
