The UNC Basketball program will host Ohio State in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge this December in Chapel Hill
It won’t be long before college basketball teams hit the court to begin practice in preparation for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Training camp usually starts at the end of September and carries over into October.
This season, the North Carolina Tar Heels are entering the year with excitement and high expectations following a disappointing exit in the Sweet 16 at the hands of Auburn. The roster has seen a big overhaul with five of UNC’s top six scorers leaving for the draft or graduation. UNC is welcoming in a Top 10 recruiting class plus the addition of two graduate transfers in hopes of making another deep run.
While we are months away from all of that, we are still getting more information about the 2019-20 schedule. The latest came on Thursday morning when the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big Ten released the official schedule for their annual challenge.
After playing at Michigan in 2018, the Tar Heels will return home for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and will host Ohio State in the Dean Dome:

The two teams will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 4th which will be one of six games in the challenge airing that night. It’s very likely they will get the 9 p.m. time slot on ESPN with Virginia at Purdue taking up the earlier time slot.
The matchup is set to be the first game of the month for the Tar Heels in December as they will return home from the Battle 4 Atlantis which lasts from Nov. 27-29. UNC currently has a 17-day period in between games with Ohio State and then UCLA on Dec. 21st. They will likely fill it with additional non-conference games in between.
These two teams last met on December 23rd in 2017 as part of the CBS Sports Classic in New Orleans. The then No. 10 Tar Heels beat the No. 17 Buckeyes 86-72 as they led by 14 at the break.
This will be the third matchup between the two teams in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with UNC winning the previous two matchups in 2006 and 2007.
