UNC Football: Tar Heels offer three-star DB from West Coast
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Football program has officially offered a three-star defensive back in the 2020 recruiting class and he’s ready to make a decision in the next two weeks.
Mack Brown and his coaching staff are hoping to poach a defensive back from the West Coast to add to their 2020 recruiting class.
The Tar Heels officially extended an offer out to three-star safety Jared Greenfield on Tuesday night, the recruit announced on his Twitter account. The offer from UNC is just the latest for the prospect out of Harbor City, California, bringing his total up to 13.
Greenfield’s offers are mostly from the West Coast including from programs such as Oregon, USC, Cal, Arizona State, and Oregon State among others. He does have a handful of offers from schools in the Midwest and East Coast including Louisville, Syracuse and now UNC.
Greenfield is ranked as the No. 478th overall player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings, the No. 31 safety in the class and the No. 44 player from the state of California.
The 6-foot-0, 180-pound Greenfield has yet to take any official visits yet but has taken some unofficial visits including one to UNC. Just a few weeks ago he released his Top 5 list with Oregon, Cal, USC, Arizona State and Syracuse all making the cut.
But now that UNC has officially offered, could his mind be changed? A day after he revealed he has an offer from the Tar Heels, he also sent out this tweet signaling that he is ready to make a decision on June 10th:

If Brown and his staff are able to pull this one off, it would just add to what already is considered a Top 10 recruiting class for 2020.
