The UNC Basketball program is in the mix for one of the top players in the 2020 recruiting class and he’s really taking his game to a whole new level

Five-star small forward Cade Cunningham has become a big target for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2020 class. But they aren’t the only ones.

Cunningham is ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings and has really elevated his game of late. The Montverde Academy product has a total of 9 offers so far with the Tar Heels reportedly being one of the teams that has recently put out an offer per Evan Daniels of 247 Sports.

That could change soon especially after how well Cunningham has been playing of late.

His most recent performance is being recognized by recruiting analysts and he’s been called a standout on the most recent stop for the EYBL AAU circuit in Dallas. Cunningham participated in the event over the weekend and did enough to impress Daniels.

In his Top & Breakout Performers article for the Dallas EYBL session, Daniels listed Cunningham as one of the standouts, praising his game and calling him the most impressive prospect at the event:

"There wasn’t a more impressive prospect at the Nike EYBL Dallas stop than Cunningham. His impact on the game is felt across the board. Cunningham, in our eyes, is at best with the ball in his hands because of his impressive feel for the game and tremendous passing ability. He’s a playmaker, but he’s also a good scorer at the rim and in transition, plus is an improving shot maker. Defensively he competes, can guard point guards to power forwards and is a high-level competitor."

The Tar Heels recently got in on the recruitment of Cunningham, watching him at a previous EYBL stop. They have some tough competition however, as Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Virginia, Memphis and others are currently involved.

Cunningham has yet to take any official visits in his recruitment but he will do so later on in the year before making a decision.

Next. A 2021 SG is hoping the Tar Heels extend an offer. dark
