White burst onto the scene last season with hair that matched his style of play; flashy but in control. As stated in his season review, White had three games last season where he scored over 30 points and six games where he made more than five 3-point shots. The point guard was the main reason this Tar Heels group was the third in scoring at 85.8 points per game.

For the most part this season, White was known for his speed, and his hair; not always in that order. Some thought that White might backup junior guard Seventh Woods but it was clear from day one that White was given the keys to this Tar Heels team.

And with those keys White drove the Tar Heels to 85.8 points per game (third in the nation), and an offensive rating of 112.7 which was 19th in the nation.

White was also second on the team in scoring (16.1 points per game), led the team with assist 4.1 per game, and average 3.5 rebounds per game. To drive into the White stats even more, he averaged an offensive rating of 110.6 per 100 possessions. Meaning that was the estimated amount of points scored for the team, or points produced for players per 100 possessions. Every other Tar Heel with a higher averaged has played at least two years in the Roy Williams system.

There was one record that seemed obtainable for White when it was obvious he wasn’t going to lose his starting job; the freshman point starting and playing in every game under Williams. White missed one game due to an ankle injury, and Bobby Frasor’s record is still in tack.
