With Cole Anthony committing to the UNC Basketball let’s look back at the best point guards in the Roy Williams era.

“Whew, time to breathe again.” – Every Tar Heel fan watching Cole Anthony’s announcement on ESPN’s Get Up that he will be coming to Chapel Hill for the 2019-20 campaign.

The five-star guard out of Oak Hill Academy is one of just three point guards ranked in the top three of his class in the history of the ESPN top 100. The others are Kyrie Irving (no 2. in 2010), and Brandon Jennings (no 1. in 2008).

Anthony’s pledge to UNC means that the Tar Heels have signed multiple Top 20 recruits for the first since they signed Justin Jackson, Joel Berry, and Theo Pinson (2014).

This time last month there were so many questions about the Tar Heels roster for the upcoming season. At least for now, some questions are answered.

Roy Williams already has high admiration for his new recruit: “He is one of the most complete point guards I have ever recruited. He has all the physical skills, but he has a competitiveness, a toughness and a savvy that I really like.”

Anthony adds to an incredible list of UNC point guards under Williams; let’s break down the top point guards over the past 15 seasons.

Note: These are in order of when the players played at UNC with the most recent first.
