The UNC Basketball program makes the Top 11 for a big class of 2020 five-star recruit on Tuesday night

The North Carolina Tar Heels currently have one player committed in their 2020 recruiting class, landing that commitment from center Day’Ron Sharpe back in June of 2018. Roy Williams and his coaches have done their homework on several recruits and will continue to do so until the cycle is over.

One of those targets on UNC’s recruiting board is five-star shooting guard Jaden Springer out of Florida.

Springer is entering his senior season this Fall at IMG Academy fresh off winning a national championship in 2019 with future Tar Heel Armando Bacot. He’s currently playing on the AAU circuit and will be a name to watch this Summer.

On Tuesday, Springer made an update to his recruitment by cutting his list of teams from the 18 total offers to his Top 11 teams. And by doing so, he included the Tar Heels:

Joining UNC on that list are two ACC programs in Wake Forest and N.C State. The Big 12 is represented by Texas and Kansas, while the SEC has Tennessee, Florida and Auburn. Memphis, Villanova and Maryland make up the final three teams.

Springer is currently ranked No. 11 overall in the 2020 class and the No. 4 player at his position.

He has taken just one official visit so far, visiting Tennessee on March 1st and he currently doesn’t have any scheduled. We’d be shocked if Springer wasn’t on campus in Chapel Hill at some point this Summer or Fall and the Tar Heels currently lead the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor with all three predictions.

Adding a player like Spring to the 2020 class would be huge, especially with the rising center Sharpe coming in, along with the potential of Bacot returning for another year and combo guard Anthony Harris having one year of experience when Springer would get to Chapel Hill.
