We take a look at where the 2019 UNC Basketball recruiting class is ranked as the period is approaching the end

The 2019 recruiting class for North Carolina was an interesting one.

Point guard Jeremiah Francis was the first to commit to the program’s 2019 recruiting class back in August of 2017 as a four-star player. A year later in August of 2018, the Tar Heels landed five-star center Armando Bacot.

After a long wait in between players, it felt like things had turned for the better. But over the coming months, UNC would be shutout as prospects like Josh Green, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Wendell Moore picked other programs over the Tar Heels. UNC remained involved with five-star combo guard Cole Anthony but you’d be lying if you were at least a little nervous he was going elsewhere.

The more Anthony waited and the more Oregon’s name kept popping up, the more nervous UNC fans got. Anthony ended all the speculation in April, making the announcement that he was committing to UNC live on TV.  Hours later, four-star guard Anthony Harris announced his decision to commit to UNC giving the Tar Heels two recruits in a span of 10 or so hours.

UNC’s class all of a sudden shot up the recruiting rankings and they even added two graduate transfers in Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce.

What was once considered to be a class that could struggle to replace the production of five of the top six players from a year ago is now being considered one of their better classes over the years.

247 Sports recently put out their final recruiting rankings for the 2019 class, ranking each program based on the recruiting rankings. Cole Anthony finished with a five-star ranking and the No. 3 overall player in the class.

As for UNC’s overall class, they finished ranked No. 6 overall behind No. 1 Arizona, No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 Villanova and No. 5 USC.

You can check the full rankings via 247 Sports in this article. This tops UNCs 2018 class which was ranked 14th overall.
