The UNC Basketball program has offered a four-star shooting guard in the 2020 recruiting class Thursday night

Roy Williams and his staff were out on the recruiting circuit last week, making trips to Dallas, Kansas City and Atlanta to watch the AAU tournaments. The staff watched a lot of prospects in both the 2020 and 2021 classes as they look to add to the future.

One of the recruits Williams and his staff came away impressed with is four-star shooting guard Bryce Thompson.

The 2020 recruit is out of Oklahoma and is currently ranked as a Top 60 recruit in the class and Top 15 at his position. Assistant Steve Robinson made the trip to Oklahoma to meet with Thompson on Thursday night for an in-home visit, joining Michigan State’s Tom Izzo who also met with the recruit.

Now, just hours after the visit, Thompson has landed an official offer from UNC:

UNC came away impressed with the in-home meeting with Thompson and thought the recruit has done enough to earn an official offer. Thompson also announced via Twitter that Michigan State has offered him as well.

The four-star recruit is now up to 15 offers, including a handful from Big 12 programs such as Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M among others.

Thompson had a nice junior season for Booker T. Washington High School and is hoping to continue that on the AAU circuit. If he does, he could begin to shoot up the recruiting rankings.

For Williams and his staff, getting a good shooting guard should be a priority in 2020. Brandon Robinson will enter his senior season this year and behind him, there is not much depth on the perimeter. Both Justin Pierce and Christian Keeling will be gone, Cole Anthony is projected to be a one-and-done, which leaves just Anthony Harris and Leaky Black.
