With the UNC Basketball program wrapping up the 2019 class, they have their eyes on some top prospects in 2020

It’s been a big two weeks for the North Carolina Tar Heels in terms of their 2019 recruiting class with the additions of Cole Anthony and Anthony Harris, as well as graduate transfers Justin Pierce and Christian Keeling. The Tar Heels are pretty much done with their 2019 class and now the focus shifts to 2020.

Head coach Roy Williams has one recruit signed for the 2020 class in four-start center Day’Ron Sharpe and he’s looking to add more.

Among the targets on UNC’s recruiting board is five-star power forward Greg Brown. The Austin, Texas native is one of the top players in the 2020 recruiting class, ranked No. 5 in the 247 Sports composite rankings and will be a big target for many teams.

Williams has shown interest in Brown, watching him a few times and making the trip down to Texas to see him.

Now that the 2019 recruiting cycle is pretty much complete, Brown’s name should be in the spotlight more. The five-star recruit was recently one of three topics in an article from Rivals’ recruiting analyst Corey Evans, who provided a small updated to Brown’s recruitment.

Evans pretty much stated that the Tar Heels are a serious contender and Brown should be scheduling some visits over the Summer with a late Fall/early Winter target date for an announcement:

"A college decision isn’t expected until late fall or during the winter months but Brown will likely trim his list down to a final five in late summer or early fall. The Longhorns will most definitely make the cut, as could Baylor, Memphis and North Carolina.Look for Brown to take a few visits in the coming months. He has made frequent trips to Texas, and Auburn, while Memphis and Texas Tech could host the five-star junior next month. In the meantime, expect for the interest geared his way to remain steady thanks to all that he can and will do at the college level."

Brown has yet to take an official visit anywhere but he has made several unofficial ones including catching the season finale between UNC and Duke in Chapel Hill. He told Inside Carolina that it was an “unbelievable” visit and that he’s planning on taking another one eventually.

That should be some good news for UNC as they will have to battle in-state schools such as Texas, Texas Tech and Baylor to land him.

Next. Tar Heels land Justin Pierce. dark
