Will we see the UNC Basketball program take on Vanderbilt in a future home-and-home series with new head coach Jerry Stackhouse? It’s possible.

Former North Carolina standout Jerry Stackhouse is the latest Tar Heel to earn a head coaching job in the college ranks.

Earlier in April, Stackhouse was named the new head coach of Vanderbilt as he takes over the program during the middle of a rebuild. Stackhouse replaces Bryce Drew who actually had a real good recruiting class but was hit with the injury bug and it just never paid out.

Now Stackhouse will have his chance to rebuild the program through recruiting and most importantly, winning games.

While the 2019-20 schedule is all but complete, we could see Stackhouse back in Chapel Hill soon enough. UNC head coach Roy Williams loves scheduling games against former players of the program who take over as head coaches of other teams. We have seen it plenty of times in the past and now Stackhouse will be no exception.

According to Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog, Williams and Stackhouse have reportedly had talks of scheduling a home-and-home series for the future. That series will reportedly begin for the 2020-21 season:

The Tar Heels only have their 20 Atlantic Coast Conference games, plus Hawaii and the Maui Invitational scheduled for 2020-21 so there is room to add some non-conference games. It would make sense for both programs seeing that it would give some more publicity for Vanderbilt and give UNC a tough road game down the line for their strength of schedule.

This is still a process that is apparently being discussed but don’t be shocked if this is announced for the future schedule in the coming months.
