The UNC Football program is off to a great start for the 2020 recruiting class as they currently have a Top 10 class in April

One thing that many thought would be a big improvement when Mack Brown began his second stint as head coach at North Carolina was recruiting. The Tar Heels have struggled over the past few years to land big classes and keep the program on the winning side of things.

Brown was able to turn a 2019 recruiting class into a respectable one, despite having his hands on it for just a few months. Larry Fedora did the majority of the recruiting for that class and it even saw some decommittments. When National Signing Day was over, UNC’s class was ranked No. 32 overall by 247 Sports.

That’s not bad considering the coaching change from Fedora to Brown.

But the 2020 class is the one that has a lot of people talking for UNC and it’s the first one Brown has really had his hands on.

As it stands right now in April, Brown has 12 commitments in the 2020 recruiting class for the Tar Heels. It’s also ranked as a Top 10 class coming in at No. 8 after the recent commitment from a three-star athlete.

While it’s still early, this is a great start for the Tar Heels.

Brown has been able to do something that Fedora couldn’t in his last few seasons with the Tar Heels. In the 2020 class, half of Brown’s commitments (six) have come from the state of North Carolina. That includes their highest-rated prospect, safety Cameron Roseman-Sinclair, a four-star product out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

As mentioned before, it’s early but the Tar Heels are still in good shape to land some more big targets on their board. They are after a handful of players including a five-star edge rusher out of North Carolina and plenty of four star recruits that they appear to be in good or decent shape with.

When all said and done, Brown could have one of the best recruiting classes for the program in a long time.
