When will UNC Basketball target Precious Achiuwa commit? One recruiting analyst believes he will be the last prospect to decide

As we are in the middle of the late signing period for college basketball recruits, there are still some big decisions to be made.

North Carolina target Matthew Hurt is set to announce his decision on Friday, April 20 with all indications pointing at Duke. With Hurt pretty much off the board, the Tar Heels will await decisions by Cole Anthony and Precious Achiuwa as Roy Williams hopes to add to his 2019 recruiting class.

There have been reports that Anthony would announce in early April after the GEICO Nationals and even late April at the Jordan Brand Classic. But as of now, there is no set date for a commitment as Anthony is still in the process.

Achiuwa on the other hand really hasn’t tipped his hand in his recruitment as it is still ongoing for the five-star recruit. He has taken a few visits already, including one to UNC for their regular season finale against Duke but he seems content on letting it all play out.

Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog recently published an article detailing five key things for this recruiting period including the decisions left for the trio. He had a pretty interesting nugget suggesting that Achiuwa might be the last recruit to announce.

Here is what Zagoria wrote:

"“Me and my family were thinking about late May, maybe around that time,” he said of a decision timeline. “Right after GEICO [High School Nationals April 4-6 in New York City], we’re going to sit down and we’re going to make decisions and it’s going to benefit myself moving forward.”"

For the Tar Heels, that could be either good or bad news. The longer it plays out, the more attractive UNC could be to him especially if they are able to land Anthony.

Pairing Achiuwa with Anthony would be a dream scenario for the Tar Heels.

It also could be bad news in the sense that if Anthony decides to go to Oregon and Achiuwa’s recruitment drags out then he picks a different school, the Tar Heels could be in trouble.

Either way, it appears as if the dominoes could be starting to fall soon.
