We take a look at the early Las Vegas odds for the UNC Basketball program to cut down the nets in 2020

With the conclusion of the 2018-19 college basketball season, we now begin the long wait for next season. Teams can hold practice for a few allowed days in the Summer, but the days of actual college basketball games are still a long ways away.

In between then, there will be a lot of big decisions made recruiting-wise for the 2019 class and potentially even some for 2020.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are still awaiting decisions from three recruits in that 2019 class which would certainly help their roster next season. There is also the potential of adding some graduate transfers as UNC has been in contact with a few already.

Either way, Roy Williams knows he has to replace a lot of production.

UNC will lose five of their top six rotation players including four starters as Kenny Williams, Cam Johnson and Luke Maye will graduate plus freshmen Coby White and Nassir Little declaring for the NBA. It won’t be easy but we should be able to trust Roy to get it done.

As we prepare for next season, Vegas has already released early title odds for the 2020 National Championship Game.

Caesars Palace Race & Sports Book has their odds out and they have the Tar Heels at 20/1 odds to cut down the nets in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on April 6th. Those are fair odds considering what UNC does lose going into next year.

If you are a bettor and want to take a chance on the Tar Heels, the 20/1 odds are what you want especially ahead of big decisions from Cole Anthony, Precious Achiuwa and Matthew Hurt. Those decisions could change everything for UNC’s outlook.

As for the favorites next year, the Virginia Cavaliers open up at 5/1 with the best chance to repeat as champions per the Sportsbook. Duke follows them at 8/1, Kentucky at 8/1, then Gonzaga 10/1, Michigan State 12/1 and fellow ACC foe Louisville at 15/1.
