We take a look at where the UNC Basketball program stands in the very first Bracketology from Joe Lunardi for 2019-20

The 2018-19 college basketball season is officially over as the Virginia Cavaliers were crowned champions after beating Texas Tech in a thrilling title game. With the conclusion of the season, we now have to wait until October for the new college basketball season.

But even with the long wait, it doesn’t mean we can’t start talking about it.

On Monday, we told you where the Tar Heels ranked in the “Way too Early” Top 25 rankings by Sporting News as they appeared in the Top 15. Following the NCAA Tournament finale, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi launched his first mock bracket for the 2019-20 season in timely fashion.

Lunardi, as he does throughout the season, broke down the field of 68 for next season’s tournament by predicting where each team will land.

The Top 4 teams in Lunardi’s bracket as the No. 1 seeds are Virginia, Michigan State, Michigan and Duke.

You don’t have to look hard for UNC, either. Lunardi has the Tar Heels as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, pairing them with No. 1 Michigan State, No. 3 Villanova and No. 7 Texas.

Yeah, it’s early and this is going to change a ton over time as more recruiting decisions need to be made as well as potential transfers for programs. It’s just nice to gauge an outsiders perspective on what the Tar Heels could look like next season.

As it stands now, UNC will return Garrison Brooks, Sterling Manley, Brandon Robinson, Rechon Black, and Andrew Platek, all who saw time in the Tar Heels rotation. They will add five-star center Armando Bacot as well as three-star point guard Jeremiah Francis.

Roy Williams has reached out to some potential transfers that could come in and start from day one, similar to what Cam Johnson has done the previous two years.

Like I said, a lot is going to change from now until tipoff later in 2019.

Next. UNC offers five-star guard in 2020 class. dark
