The UNC Basketball program will open up ACC play early on as they host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Dean Dome

With the launch of the new ACC Network coming in August of 2019, we knew that there would be some scheduling changes as the conference will switch to a 20-game schedule. On Friday, ahead of the ACC semifinal games in Charlotte ESPN rolled out the plans for what the ACC Network will look like during basketball season.

The new 20-game conference schedule means that ACC play will begin a lot earlier than it normally does in late December/early January. And by a lot earlier, we mean it.

The ACC announced its season opener schedule taking place on November 5th and 6th with 15 teams taking part. Of those teams, all but Duke will play their conference opener in that span as the Blue Devils will take part in the State Farm Champions Classic as they have the past few years.

On November 6th, UNC will open up their conference schedule by hosting Notre Dame live on the ACC Network. Check out the rest of the games scheduled for the two-day season opener series:

In total, four games will be broadcasted on the ACC Network during those two days. Joining UNC/Notre Dame  is Louisville at Miami, Georgia Tech at NC State and Virginia at Syracuse.

ESPN also announced they are working on original programming similar to their ESPN films series with two documentaries: The Class That Saved Coach K, and The Tournament: A History of ACC Basketball.

More documentaries are likely in the future.

The full 2018-19 ACC schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date but it will be interesting to see how the conference works them in with non-conference games.
