Best-case scenario

G – Cole Anthony
G – Coby White
F – Nassir Little
F – Garrison Brooks
C – Armando Bacot

The absolute best-case scenario for the Tar Heels next season is also the most unlikely. It would require the return of both Coby White and Nassir Little, combined with the commitment of 5-star point guard Cole Anthony.

There are multiple reasons why this is a lineup that we are unlikely to see, including the improbable decision of two surefire NBA lottery picks both turning down the draft in favor of another season in college. That’s basically unheard of in this era of college basketball, and something I don’t foresee happening. To be completely honest, if just half of the dynamic freshman duo were to return next season, it would be a gift, and a bit of a surprise.

This lineup is also unlikely because it’s quite possible that Cole Anthony — who is considered by many to be a strong UNC lean, but is yet to commit — would choose another school over North Carolina if current do-it-all point guard Coby White were to return to campus next season. Having them both on the roster would be amazing for Roy Williams, and in the eyes of the Carolina faithful, but a potential one-and-done player like Anthony may not want to share the minutes and the spotlight with a player as talented as White.

This dream lineup would feature the skill and leadership that an uptempo UNC offense requires, the athleticism on the wing from Little, and the necessary size in the front court with the addition of incoming freshman Armando Bacot and an experienced Garrison Brooks.
