The UNC Basketball program will host several big recruiting targets on campus for Saturday’s showdown with the Duke Blue Devils

Saturday’s rematch against the Duke Blue Devils in Chapel Hill is big for Atlantic Coast Conference seeding as well as North Carolina’s shot at least sharing the regular season conference title with Virginia.

The Tar Heels took game one in Durham a few weeks back and have been on a roll since then, playing some really good basketball. There’s no doubt that Saturday’s atmosphere will be incredible, as it always is when these two rivals meet.

While the game is an important one for seeding in both the ACC and NCAA Tournament, it’s also important for both the basketball and football programs in terms of recruiting. Both programs will host several big recruits on campus this weekend to take in the UNC-Duke game.

Per Inside Carolina’s Sherrell McMillan, the Tar Heels are set to host a total of 7 basketball recruits for Saturday’s showdown with Duke.

McMillan listed the recruits, including signee Armando Bacot, in his latest article for Inside Carolina:

  •  5-star G Cole Anthony (2019 Target)
  • 5-star PF Precious Achiuwa (2019 target) (Official Visit)
  • 5-star C Armando Bacot (2019 signee)
  • 5-star SF Ziaire Williams (2020 target) (Official Visit)
  • 5-star PF Isaiah Todd (2020 target)
  • 5-star PF Greg Brown (2020 target)
  • 4-star PG Cam Hayes (2021 target)

That’s a pretty impressive recruiting list for the Tar Heels to have in attendance and attempt to impress.

The Tar Heels have offers out to every prospect on the list except for 2021 in-state point guard Cam Hayes. But one could be coming soon as UNC is showing interest in him.

Arguably the two biggest recruits on that list are both in the 2019 class. Anthony has been a target of UNC for just under a year now and the five-star point guard is making yet another trip to campus to check out UNC. He’s made two unofficial visits already and took his official just a few months back.

The Tar Heels are considered one of the favorites to land him and his best friend, Bacot, will also be in attendance.

UNC got in on Achiuwa’s recruitment late, offering him back on December 31. While Achiuwa had a solid list, UNC was able to earn an official visit this weekend. I wouldn’t count the Tar Heels out yet on his recruitment and I think there is a chance he could end up at UNC.

The rest of the recruits scheduled on campus are big targets in the 2020 class, with the exception of Hayes.

Williams has already flown across the country to visit UNC once before and is now making another trip for his official visit. The Tar Heels and Stanford appear to be the two favorites in the race to land the talented wing in the 2020 class.

For Todd, the rumors have swirled that he would be reclassifying to the 2019 class but as of now he’s still in 2020. Kentucky has emerged as a favorite to land him but the Tar Heels are still in the race for now.

Williams has already made a trip to Texas to visit Brown in the past and UNC recently made his Top 10 list.  This will be an unofficial visit for Brown to Chapel Hill.
