Mack Brown has done a tremendous job with the 2020 recruiting class for the UNC Football program and one analyst is raving about it

Landing a Top 10 recruiting class isn’t out of the ordinary for the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program. Roy Williams has done a great job in recruiting since his return to the program as head coach in 2003.

While that’s the case for the basketball program, it’s just not the same for the football program.

The Tar Heels struggle to even land a Top 25 class in some years, most recently under former head coach Larry Fedora. But things might be changing for the better soon with new head coach Mack Brown at the helm.

It’s still early but from the looks of it, Brown has begun to transform UNC recruiting for the better in Chapel Hill. After taking over as head coach in December of 2018, he was able to put together a solid 2019 class that was ranked in the Top 40.

Now he has his eyes on a huge recruiting class for 2020 that’s starting to take shape.

The Tar Heels have six recruits verbally committed to the 2020 class including three four-star commits. Brown has done a great job with the class and is selling the “family” mantra for the program.

With the hot start, one recruiting analyst thinks the Tar Heels have a chance at landing a Top 10 overall class:

As you see above, Hamilton notes that the Tar Heels have done a great job with in-state recruiting in the class. Of the six recruits currently verbally committed, four of them are from the state of North Carolina.  The other two commits have come from Georgia and Virginia, an area that Hamilton points out in his tweet.

The recruiting period for 2020 is still in the early stages but you have to like what Brown has been able to do so far. UNC’s 2020 class is currently ranked No. 15 by 247 Sports.
