The UNC Football program made the cut on two recruits’ list as both provided an update but cutting some teams off

Following the big “Junior Day” recruiting event on campus at North Carolina, the Tar Heels didn’t land any commitments yet. Typically following a recruiting weekend, a prospect or two and sometimes more will announce their verbal commitments.

That didn’t happen after this past weekend but the Tar Heels did land in some lists as recruits made updates to their recruitment. On Sunday, UNC made the cut for 5-star linebacker Antoine Sampah as he named his top 8 following a visit to Chapel Hill.

But the next recruit to include UNC in on a list didn’t visit campus over the weekend.

Class of 2020 4-star edge rusher Fadil Diggs listed his “Elite 11” schools list and the Tar Heels were able to make the cut. UNC was joined by Georgia, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Florida, Tennessee, Temple, Texas A&M, Penn State and West Virginia.

As you can see, there’s some tough competition for the Tar Heels to land the New Jersey product, going against some big SEC programs as well as Ohio State and Virginia Tech. Diggs is ranked No. 115 in the 2020 class overall and No. 7 at his position.

He’s yet to take a visit and the next step for UNC is to get him on campus for either an official or unofficial visit.

Just a day after making Diggs’ list, UNC was named to three-star offensive lineman Trey Zimmerman’s top four.

Zimmerman released his list on Tuesday morning, putting UNC, Duke, Georgia Tech and Auburn in his updated list. As it stands now, the Auburn Tigers might be the favorites and have both crystal ball predictions on 247 Sports.

Zimmerman was on campus in Chapel Hill 2 weeks ago and took a visit to Auburn this past weekend.
