UNC Basketball: Greg Brown cuts list down to 10 teams
By Zack Pearson
The UNC Basketball program makes the cut for five-star recruit Greg Brown as he announced his top 10 teams Tuesday afternoon
While the North Carolina Tar Heels appear to be fading for class of 2019 five-star guard Keion Brooks, they did receive some good news on Tuesday.
Five-star prospect in the 2020 class, Greg Brown, trimmed his list and announced his final 10 teams. The 6-foot-9, 195-pound power forward made a significant update to his recruitment and listed the Tar Heels among 9 other teams.
Joining UNC on Browns list was Auburn, Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Memphis and LSU.
While there are still 10 teams in the running, this is good news for the Tar Heels. The program already has center Day’Ron Sharpe signed and now they are in the running for one of the top players in the 2020 class.
Brown ranks No. 6 overall and No. 1 at the power forward position according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Austin, Texas native is also one of the top players in the state.
The Tar Heels recently got involved in Brown’s recruitment and head coach Roy Williams has traveled to Texas to watch him play as recent as January.
Following a visit, the Tar Heels officially offered Brown on Jan. 27th putting them in the race to land the big recruit. He has a total of 14 offers and has yet to take any official visits. He’s taken an unofficial visit to Texas Tech and Texas.
There are four in-state schools on his list as well as two blue bloods in UNC and Kansas. Both the Tar Heels and Jayhawks appear to have the best chance to pull him out of the state of Texas.
As of now, the Longhorns are considered the favorite in the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor holding two of the three predictions.
