UNC Basketball: Recruiting analyst makes his prediction for Cole Anthony
By Zack Pearson
A big Crystal Ball prediction has come in for the Tar Heels and five-star recruit Cole Anthony on Tuesday morning.
Class of 2019 combo guard Cole Anthony’s recruitment has been relatively quiet over the past few months with the exception of him taking unofficial and official visits.
The five-star prospect is one of the most sought-after recruits in this 2019 class and is the top target left for Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Anthony has taken two unofficial visits to UNC as well as an official visit as the Tar Heels made his final six list.
Joining UNC on that list was Oregon, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Wake Forest and Miami.
While Anthony appears to be still a ways away from making an official announcement, many believe this race is down to UNC and Oregon.
Ducks head coach Dana Altman has watched Anthony a few times over the past month and Oregon has been considered the program that could keep Anthony out of Chapel Hill. The Ducks have emerged as a serious threat for Anthony.
As we await Anthony’s decision, likely sometime after the college season is over and maybe longer, several recruiting analysts are making their predictions and revealing their thoughts on Anthony’s recruitment.
But the latest one should make UNC fans happy.
Director of Basketball recruiting analyst Evan Daniels of 247 Sports/Scout made some UNC fans happy on Tuesday morning when he made a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Tar Heels for Anthony. Daniels is predicting that Anthony will eventually land in Chapel Hill when his recruitment is over.
A Crystal Ball predictor doesn’t mean it’s a sure thing as analysts can be wrong in some cases but Daniels has a good track record of being right. Out of the 170 predictions he’s made, 160 have been correct. He’s usually considered the main source of predictions and when you see one from him, it’s a very good sign.
For now it’s good news but with a long way to go in Anthony’s recruitment, anything can happen.
