Vince Carter moved up on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list, passing the legend Jerry West for 21st all-time

Vince Carter is in his 21st season in the NBA, holding the streak for the most consecutive seasons playing in the league. At 41-years-old, Carter is the oldest player but he’s still contributing for the Atlanta Hawks.

While appearing in 50 games, Carter is averaging 6.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, an assist and 15.8 minutes per game this season for an Atlanta Hawks team that is young and in rebuilding mode.

The veteran has been able to provide a learning experience for the youth on the roster but he’s also making some history.

Carter recently moved into the Top 25 on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list, passing the great Jerry West.

The forward scored 9 points in the Hawks 119-101 loss to Toronto on Thursday, moving him past West (25,192) for 21st on the list. Carter now has 25,195 points and has a shot at passing Reggie Miller on the list.

Miller finished his career with 25,279 which is currently 20th. Carter will need 84 points in the final two months of the season to accomplish the feat. Moving to No. 19 will be tough as Carmelo Anthony currently sits in that spot with 25,551 points.

Anthony is currently a free agent but is expected to join the Los Angeles Lakers in the coming days and should add to that total.

With Carter approaching the end of his career in these final months in the NBA, it would be nice to see him move up on that list some more. It’s also a storyline to keep an eye on for a Hawks team that is currently 18-36 and 12th in the Eastern Conference.
