UNC Basketball continues its dominance over NC State with another big win on Tuesday night led once again by senior Luke Maye

Another game against NC State, and another win for Roy Williams.

The University of North Carolina head coach improved to 30-4 in his coaching career with the Tar Heels in games against the Wolfpack, completing another regular season sweep as well.

While the Wolfpack did eclipse the 24-point mark for the first time in two games, UNC was just too good from the start. The Tar Heels jumped all over the Wolfpack in the first half to grab control of the game and they never even looked back, making another big statement in the win.

The 113 points are the most ever scored by UNC in a game over NC State, eclipsing the previous mark of 107 set just a few years back.

UNC shot 56.1 percent from the field and went to the free throw line 37 times, making 31 of those attempts in the win. The Tar Heels were efficient on the offensive end and had four of their five starters finish in double-figures.

While it was a big all around performance by the entire UNC team, Luke Maye once again had another big game against the Wolfpack. Maye finished with 31 points to lead all scorers and made it four-straight games finishing in double-figures against the Wolfpack.

Point guard Coby White finished with 21 points while both Cam Johnson and Kenny Williams had 17. Sixth man Nassir Little came off the bench to score 12 points in the winning effort.

The game was tight for the first 11 minutes or so and after Braxton Beverly drained a three to cut the lead to 22-19, UNC out-scored the Wolfpack 34-21 to grab a 56-40 lead.

While the second half scoring was close, UNC 57-56, the game really wasn’t. The Tar Heels extended their lead to 27 at one point and really put it away before the Wolfpack chipped away in garbage time.

It was a great all-around performance for the Tar Heels despite giving up the 96 points to the Wolfpack as NC State shot 50 percent for the game. But there was never really a doubt in the final 30 minutes that UNC would win.

Player of the Game

Luke Maye. Of course it’s Maye, who else would it be after another big performance against the Wolfpack. Maye dominated once again and appears to always save his best for when he does play NC State.

In addition to the 31 points, Maye also grabbed 12 rebounds with 10 coming on the defensive end of the floor.

The forward put together another big performance in what could be his last game against the Wolfpack. Or at least that’s what NC State fans are hoping for.

Stat of the Game

12 out of 16. That’s how many seasons UNC has swept NC State under Roy Williams. Not win one game but sweep the regular season.

That’s pretty damn impressive and shows Roy’s dominance over the Wolfpack.

What’s next?

The Tar Heels will look to continue their hot streak when they host Miami on Saturday morning in Chapel Hill. UNC won the first meeting between the two teams 85-76 just a few weeks back.

A win for the Tar Heels would mark seven-straight for them in ACC play.
