Roy Williams was back in Georgia to watch a big five-star center on Friday night, marking his second trip to see him

Throughout the week we have kept you updated on where University of North Carolina Tar Heels’ head coach Roy Williams has been while on the recruiting trail. With more than a week off in-between games, Williams has spent his time checking in on recruits.

He’s been to Texas, Florida and now Georgia as he’s watching another very important recruiting target.

Williams was in Georgia on Friday night to watch class of 2020 five-star center Walker Kessler play as the recruit had a big night.

Kessler scored 38 points in Woodward Academy’s win on Friday night, doing so in front of Williams who made the trip down:

The Tar Heels have begun to show significant interest in Kessler of late, making him a big priority in their 2020 class. Williams first watched Kessler on the AAU circuit in 2018 and has since made it clear he likes the center’s game.

UNC assistant Brad Frederick went down to see Kessler play two weeks ago, marking this the second time in January the Tar Heels have watched the recruit play. Williams was in Georgia to watch Kessler practice on Thursday morning before his Friday visit.

While there’s certainly significant interest, there’s no offer as of yet. That should eventually change in the coming weeks and we’d be shocked if UNC never offers the 6-foot-10 recruit.

Kessler currently has 22 offers including from Duke, Georgia, Virginia, Auburn, Michigan and UCLA among other programs. He’s already visited Auburn and Virginia and plans on taking an official to Duke during the first weekend of February.

While he’s currently a 2020 recruit, there are some rumblings he could reclassify to 2019. That would be huge for any program that lands him.
