6) Garrison Brooks

2018-19 stats:

20.7 MPG, 8.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.6 BPG, 1.2 TPG
54.3 FG%, 0.0 3P%, 68.0 FT%

Best game:

11/6 at Wofford: 20 points, five rebounds, 9-of-15 shooting, and 2-of-3 from the free throw line

Advanced data:

Brooks has a higher shooting percentage at the rim this season than any other qualifying Tar Heel (more than 12 games played), and it’s where he takes a team-high 52.6 percent of his shots.

11: The number of blocks that Brooks has on the season. He leads the Tar Heels in that category, and Luke Maye is second with 10.

Synopsis:

In the barren wasteland that is the Tar Heels’ front court, Brooks has been the team’s most consistent interior player. His numbers aren’t eye-popping, but he is quietly becoming the next really good UNC big man. His progression from freshman to sophomore season has been noticeable, and not entirely dissimilar from that of Brice Johnson some five years ago. Brooks already has the physique. We’ll see if he can match the production.
