University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams and his players wore special Air Jordan shoes on Monday night to raise awareness
With the No. 10 Virginia Tech Hokies in Chapel Hill on Monday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels were facing a tough test after starting 4-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
The Tar Heels passed that test with a big home win over the Hokies to improve to 5-1 and hold at least a share of first place in the ACC.
UNC took control with a 20-0 run in the first half to push their lead to double-digits at the break. In the second half, UNC kept the hot shooting and strong defensive play up and never really looked back.
Monday’s game was a big win for the Tar Heels and they did it in style. Literally.
The Tar Heels were wearing special pink shoes as they teamed up with the NABC to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. UNC also helped promote the American Cancer Society, showing support for those fighting cancer.
UNC players wore either the CP3.XI or Air Jordan XXXIII in a special pink colorway that stood out on the court. The shoes are a PE for the Tar Heels this season, one of many they will wear as the year goes on.
The players weren’t the only ones wearing awesome shoes.
Coaches also wore sneakers on the bench during the game to show their support for the NABC and American Cancer Society. Each coach wore a pair of Air Jordans while Roy Williams stole the shoe.
Williams wore the Air Jordan 1 “UNC” x Off-White collection, a very popular yet hard to find sneaker that released in 2018. The shoe was re-designed by Virgil Abloh as part of the OFF-White collection.

We wish we could see Roy wearing sneakers like this more as it allows the coaches to show their off some awesome Air Jordan sneakers.
