Nassir Little to Step Up

There has been a lot of talk surrounding the No. 3 overall recruit from last year’s recruiting class, and either the lack of minutes or productivity, whichever way you look at it.

Averaging 10.5 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game, Little has scored in single digits in three out of his last five games but is coming off of a very good all-around performance against Davidson.

Every freshman usually goes through growing pains, just as fellow Tar Heel Coby White has, but what is slightly concerning for Little is his inability to create his own shot when going up against top-flight opponents.

Against Michigan and Kentucky, two of their losses, he has combined for just 8 points on 3-of-13 shooting, with only two free throw attempts total.

At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, Little’s frame combined with his athleticism is way more developed than most freshman, but at times he seems lost on the floor.

Though everyone is taking about Little, all he is concerned with is winning. He has this to say to Adam Lucas of Goheels.com,

"“There’s a lot of hype around my game, so people are going to talk about it. But at the end of the day, I’m just trying to win games. If I have one point and we win, I’m happy. Winning means more to me than anything.”"

Mainly, it seems more like a confidence issue and him pressing considering he is only playing 19.3 minutes per game, but either way Little needs to get back on track in order for the Tar Heels to compete atop the ACC.
