One of the top targets in the UNC Basketball’s 2020 recruiting class is ready to start taking official visits

Roy Williams and his staff are still working on putting together their 2019 basketball recruiting staff but that doesn’t mean the 2020 class isn’t starting to pick up.

The Tar Heels currently have one verbal commitment in the 2020 class with center Day’Ron Sharpe offering his verbal over the Summer. Sharpe likely won’t be the only commit Williams lands in this class as his recruiting board is full of big targets.

One of those targets is five-star small forward Ziaire Williams.

The California native is one of the top players in the country and at his position in the 2020 class and recently took a surprise visit to Chapel Hill. Williams flew across the country to attend Late Night With Roy back in October which came as a big surprise to many and showed the recruit was interested in the program.

While Williams took an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill, he’s ready to start taking some official visits.

Stock Risers caught up with Williams this past week to discuss his recruitment and what teams are getting involved. The recruit told Stock Risers that in addition to UNC, UCLA, Arizona, USC, Stanford, and Oregon are the other teams that are recruiting him hard.

Williams has offers from all of those teams mentioned and is now ready to take his first official visit. The recruit revealed that Stanford would get the first official on his list and he will head there from Jan. 12-14th.

While there appear to be six teams heavily involved with Williams, it looks like UNC and Stanford are the early favorites.

Williams taking the first visit to Stanford is big and shows his interest in the Cardinal. Him making that unofficial to Chapel Hill is also a good sign for the Tar Heels.

At this point, Williams doesn’t have a visit scheduled to UNC but we fully expect him to take one there at some point.
