UNC Basketball commit Day’Ron Sharpe has had a great start to the annual John Wall Invitational as he’s lead his team to back-to-back wins

The John Wall Invitational is one of the premiere high school basketball holiday tournaments in the entire country and is always loaded with talent.

Last year fans watched as University of North Carolina commit Coby White set a new tournament record, putting on a show for Greenfield High School. Now this year it’s another UNC commit putting on a show in a different way.

Through the first two days of the tournament, 2020 UNC commit Day’Ron Sharpe has helped lead South Central to back-to-back victories in the TJ Warren bracket with his play.

In the 65-52 opening win against Athens Drive on Wednesday, Sharpe finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He was a big reason why South Central opened up the tournament with a win and he put up an impressive double-double in his debut.

He upped that performance in Wednesday’s contest.

Sharpe was once again the best player on the floor in his matchup Wednesday night, helping lead South Central to a 68-45 win over Leesville Road. The center finished the game with 14 points and an impressive 21 rebounds.

For his play, Sharpe caught the eye of some national recruiting analysts who were taking in the tournament. Brian Snow of Scout/247 wrote this on Sharpe’s performance on Thursday:

"Once again it was an impressive game for North Carolina pledge Day’Ron Sharpe. There was absolutely nobody on the floor who could match Sharpe’s combination of size and length. And with that physical advantage, Sharpe went to work."

UNC assistant Steve Robinson was in the building to watch the tournament and caught Sharpe’s performance in the win.

Sharpe has developed into one of the top big men in the 2020 class and has begun to climb the recruiting rankings. He’s currently a Top 25 recruit in the class and is close to a five-star ranking.

The Semi-final win advanced South Central to the finals in the TJ Warren Bracket which will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. EST.
