UNC basketball: 5 lineup options that Roy Williams could go with
The Platoon Lineup
G – Seventh Woods
G – Andrew Platek
F – Leaky Black
F – Nassir Little
F – Brandon Huffman
Why?
I think we already know the answer to this question. There’s going to be a moment (or two, or three) where Williams will get beyond frustrated with whatever lineup is on the floor.
In the past Williams has attempted to rip his jacket, throwing his jacket, and of course jump in his jacket. There’s no telling what he’ll do with his jacket next.
The morale of the men will be low, a civil war in the platoon. There will be a lot of suspicion and hate!
Strengths
This lineup will immediately get the death stare from Williams prior to entering the game, so they will play with the highest intensity, be the scrappiest, and give every ounce of passion that Williams wants.
This lineup is intended to motivate the previous unit on the floor as well. If they do what is asked of them they will see more action on the court.
Weakness
Overall this lineup is not great offensively, not good defensively either and shouldn’t be on the floor together longer than five minutes. This squad might feel the pressure to produce straightaway which can result in hero ball.
Don’t be surprised if Williams get frustrated with the squad and tries another platoon system.
Unlikely, but you never know with an irritated head coach. More than likely Williams will get what he wants out of this unit and will revert back to the starting lineup once he cools down.
