The UNC Basketball program hosted a trio of recruits for a big game in Chapel Hill against Gonzaga on Saturday night

This is a big weekend on the campus of the University of North Carolina as the Tar Heels hosted No. 4 Gonzaga in a rematch of the 2017 National Championship.

The Tar Heels got the best of Gonzaga again on Saturday, beating them 103-90 in front of a packed house in the Dean Dome.

But not only was the game big but it turned out to be a big recruiting weekend. Five-star forward Matthew Hurt was on campus to take his official visit to UNC, the second in his recruiting cycle so far.

Hurt has a few more visits planned but it was good for UNC to get him on campus for that official after making the cut down on his list. The Tar Heels are battling Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and Minnesota for Hurt but Indiana and Villanova are also recruiting him.

The forward would fill a big need on the wing for the Tar Heels next season but as of now it appears as if Kansas are the favorites to land him. We won’t know how the visit went until after the weekend but with a while to go until he makes a decision in Spring, anything can happen.

While Hurt took his official visit this weekend, a pair of recruits were on campus for unofficial visits.

For the second time in 10 days, class of 2020 five-star power forward Isaiah Todd was in Chapel Hill for an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill to watch a game. Todd was in the stands on Saturday to watch UNC’s win over Gonzaga, sitting behind the Tar Heels’ bench.

The Tar Heels have been in pursuit of Todd for a while now and are the favorites to land him early on according to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor. With Todd being on campus again, he’s now had another look at what the program can offer.

Joining Hurt and Todd was UNC’s lone commit in the 2020 class, five-star center Day’Ron Sharpe.

Sharpe became the first 2020 recruit to commit to UNC back on Father’s Day of 2018 and he’s visited a few times since. The center has elevated his game big time and is approaching a five-star ranking.

Adding a player like Todd to the class that features Sharpe would be big for UNC and on Saturday night, they had a chance to mingle and get a look at the environment for a big game.
