University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams has officially offered a five-star small forward in the 2020 class

The North Carolina Tar Heels have a new target on their 2020 basketball recruiting board.

Roy Williams was in Washington D.C. to watch some recruits on Saturday but before that he traveled to the West Coast to watch a five-star small forward in the 2020 class on Friday night.

Williams liked him so much that he was ready to extend an official offer.

Five-star small forward Ziarie Williams received an official offer from Williams and North Carolina on Sunday according to Inside Carolina. The offer comes just a few days after the head coach and assistant Steve Robinson watched the recruit play.

The wing was on UNC’s campus for a surprise unofficial visit in October for “Late Night With Roy” coming all the way from California to attend.

When that happened, it showed that Williams had significant interest in the program and now UNC is showing that interest as well.

Ranked as the No. 24 prospect in the 2020 recruiting class by 247 Sports, Williams is drawing serious consideration from a handful of top programs.

Joining UNC with offers include Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame and USC among other schools. Most of Williams offers have come from West Coast teams and the current Crystal Ball does favor Stanford but UNC’s offer will play a big role in his recruitment moving forward.

Williams dropped 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a win for Notre Dame High School in front of Williams and Robinson on Friday night. He’s in his junior year with the program out of Sherman Oaks.

Being on the West Coast, programs out there will have an easier time seeing Williams play but it hasn’t stopped UNC from showing significant interest. With a lot of time left in his recruitment, Williams still has a ways to go for official visits. But as of now, we have to imagine the Tar Heels will likely get one when the time comes.
