We take a look at where the Tar Heels stand in the latest update on ESPN’s Bracketology by Joe Lunardi after the month of November

The month of November is over with the North Carolina Tar Heels finishing it with 6-2 record, losing games to Texas at a neutral site and No. 7 Michigan on the road.

December’s schedule doesn’t get much easier for the Tar Heels with a showdown against No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 10 Kentucky looming in the next few weeks. The good news is that they will have the chance to climb the rankings and improve that NCAA Tournament resume some.

As for that resume and where it stands now, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has updated his Bracketology for the week. The Bracketology is essentially a bracket predictor for the NCAA Tournament which gets updated daily after the completion of games.

The Tar Heels are ranked No. 14 in the country going into this game against UNC-Wilmington, following those two losses. It might have hurt their ranking some but it really didn’t do much damage on their potential seed.

According to Lunardi, the Tar Heels are currently a No. 3 seed in the South Region and would play No. 14 Lipscomb in Jacksonville.

Also seeded in the mock bracket with UNC is No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Auburn and No. 4 Wisconsin. The Villanova Wildcats are the No. 5 team in that region and last year’s cinderella team, Loyola-Chicago, are a No. 12 seed.

Gonzaga is the No. 1 overall seed located out in the West Region and both Duke and Kansas make up the other top seeds in the regions.

Of course, this will certainly change as the season goes on but it’s interesting to see where an analyst currently has the Tar Heels. With those tough upcoming games, the Tar Heels have a chance to earn some big wins.
