UNC Basketball: Roy Williams wasn’t happy with the Tar Heels following Michigan loss

Roy Williams wasn’t happy with his team’s effort on the road in the loss to Michigan on Wednesday night and he made sure they knew about it
When University of North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams isn’t happy with his team, you are going to know about it. Williams has never been one to shy away from telling the media how he feels about his team, even after a loss.
Following Wednesday’s disappointing loss to the Michigan Wolverines on the road, Williams expressed his displeasure with the team.
UNC really struggled to defend in this one and Michigan took advantage. After UNC had a 21-11 lead in the first half, the Wolverines went on a 17-2 run to regain the lead. They didn’t look back.
Things were sloppy all around for the Tar Heels and Williams wasn’t happy. He broke it town in with just a simple “we stink” quote.
“The job that the head coach is doing with this team. Right now we stink,” Williams said via Inside Carolina. “We work on the screen on the ball every day and three plays in a row they set a screen in the middle of the court and dunked it or lay it up. Guys, I’ve got no positive things.”
Williams wasn’t wrong.
That performance by the Tar Heels, especially on the defensive end was bad. UNC looked like they didn’t belong on the same court as the Wolverines and now have some serious question marks moving forward.
In UNC’s two losses this season, they flat out haven’t looked good on the defensive end giving up 92 points to Texas and 84 to Michigan. It’s simple things such as the pick-and-roll and back door screens that have given the Tar Heels the most fits.
With the struggles on the defensive end, UNC is going to need to clean that up. They still have to face both Gonzaga and Kentucky in a one-week span before opening up Atlantic Coast Conference play in January.
On the offensive end, the Tar Heels really need more from their seniors.
The trio of Luke Maye, Cameron Johnson and Kenny Williams just aren’t getting it done on offense leaving some serious concerns. If they don’t pick it up, this team will be toast early in the NCAA Tournament no matter how much talent they have.
The Tar Heels will have the entire month of December featuring non-conference games to show they got Williams’ message on Wednesday night. Let’s just hope they did.
