UNC Basketball: Class of 2019 5-star PF planning visit
By Zack Pearson
One of the top targets on UNC’s recruiting board will likely take a visit to Chapel Hill soon
After missing out on Josh Green, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Zeke Nnaji, University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams still has some targets left in his 2019 recruiting board.
It’s clear the Tar Heels will need some help on the wing next season and a five-star power forward in this 2019 class could be one of the answers.
Minnesota native Matthew Hurt is ranked as the No. 7 player in the country according to 247 Sports and his recruitment is still open. But now, Hurt is ready to start taking his visits and has scheduled at least one.
According to Stockrisers, Hurt has one official visit set right now as he will visit Lexington and the Kentukcy Wildcats this weekend.
But that won’t be the only visit Hurt takes.
He’s also planning on taking four others including one to Chapel Hill to see Roy Williams and the Tar Heels. ESPN’s Paul Biancardi reported on Monday that Hurt will visit Chapel Hill sometime soon, sourcing the recruit’s father in the tweet.
In addition to UNC and Kentucky, it appears as if Duke and Kansas will also get a visit from the five-star recruit.
Hurt would fill a major void on the perimeter for the Tar Heels as he’s one of the best scorers in this 2019 class.
We are still likely months away from Hurt’s decision and right now it appears as if the Kansas Jayhawks are the team to beat in this race. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor has the Jayhawks with an 83 percent, with Minnesota behind at 8 percent.
The date of Hurt’s official to UNC will likely be available in the coming days.
